Statement:

“The Brazilian Football Confederation confirms that on Thursday it sent official correspondence to both FIFA and UEFA.”

“We have requested that strict measures be taken in response to the racist incident targeting player Vinicius Junior during the match held at Da Luz Stadium.”

“We request a thorough and comprehensive investigation to identify those responsible for the alleged racist act and to impose exemplary sanctions on anyone proven to be involved, in accordance with UEFA regulations and rules.”

“We also emphasise the need to hear the testimony of the victim and all those present and to ensure that the relevant articles of the statutes are applied.”

“We emphasise that there is an article that stipulates the promotion of football without any form of discrimination and an article that requires effective measures to be taken to punish racist abuse.”

“The Brazilian Football Confederation renews its firm commitment to combating racism in all its forms and stresses that any racist abuse must be met with decisive measures to ensure that it does not happen again in the future.”
