Behind the scenes of Prestiani's confession in the Vinicius insult case

– ESPN sources have confirmed that Argentine player Gianluca Prestiani directed an insult related to “sexual orientation” towards Brazilian Vinicius Junior, and not a racist one as previously reported.

Prestiani explained in his statement to UEFA that he used the word “mari*con,” which means “faggot,” and did not say “monkey” or any other racist slur.

According to UEFA regulations, insults based on sexual orientation are treated with the same severity as racist insults, which means that the punishment will remain the samea 10-match ban and a fine for the player.
