– Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid striker and Argentine national team, expressed his dissatisfaction with the cancellation of the penalty he paid against Real Madrid in the 16th round of the Champions League.
The player confirmed that he had seen the shot “a thousand times”, noting that touching the ball twice was “very little” friction, and called for a review and clarification of laws related to such cases.
Alvarez stated, “I watched the shot hundreds of times, and there are videos spread everywhere. The truth is that I did not feel the second touch, and if it actually happened, it is a very simple contact that is difficult to notice.”
He added: “I think the laws need more clarification, because I was not trying to take advantage of any illegal opportunity. Sometimes, when the goalkeeper advances and repels the ball, he is allowed to re -try, although he is moving forward. It is not a matter of taking advantage of in any way. What happened was very unfortunate.”
