– Former Spanish referee Antonio Matteo Lahouz, during his talk on the “Tiempo de Juego” program on Radio Cadina Coupe, revealed his opinion on the problems of Spanish arbitration, noting that there is a favoritism in the promotion of referees, where many of them belong to families with a history in the field.
Lahouz emphasized that the unwanted referees on the field are pushing to work in video technology, regardless of their performance, considering that the current arbitration system needs fundamental reforms to ensure integrity and entitlement.
He also explained that the Referees Committee imposed a retirement despite his desire to continue, noting that his age was an obstacle to the second -class arbitration.
