Real Madrid faces a possible crisis with the Spanish League after the statements of its coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who threatened not to play any match if the team did not get 72 hours of comfort between the matches, according to FIFA recommendations.
Ancelotti’s comments came after the difficult victory over Villarreal 2-1, as he complained about the exhaustion caused by the pressures of the matches, stressing that the club requested a modification of the table twice without responding from the League.
In the event that Real Madrid implement his threat and his refusal to play, he will face penalties from the Spanish Federation, including the loss of the match (0-3), and the deduction of three points, in addition to a fine ranging between 3,006 and 12,021 euros, according to the Spanish Football Association regulations.
For its part, the Spanish Football Association (AFE) supported Real Madrid’s position, stressing the need for players to get 72 hours of rest between the matches to maintain their physical and psychological safety.
The question remains: Will Real Madrid escalate the crisis, or will the League intervene to find a compromise?
